Like a GIF in its use of repetitious movement and a short time span, the difference is cinemagraphs utilize static images with just one moving element. Its subtlety still engages the audience while intriguing them to find out why that particular movement was chosen and how it relates to the concept, service or product being proffered. Once again, the element of fun.
Emerging onto the design market most recently is the more extravagant yet fully interactive concept of virtual reality. Now that it has been introduced to the consumer as the coolest holiday present of 2016, tech giants like Google, with Google VR, are encouraging more widespread use. It seems their goal is to eventually give the power of virtual reality over to the consumer. They provide Google Cardboard for a most affordable option for virtual reality viewing, as well as open source code for developers to utilize on websites everywhere. With the intense use of mobile phones worldwide, virtual reality will only become more and more prevalent in our daily online existence.
